Bennett lab students presented at ASM Microbe 2025 in Los Angeles!

Seniors Taylor Bish, Ellie Fritz, Ashlynn Kelley, and Emili Moorehead presented their research at the ASM Microbe Meeting held in Los Angeles, California in June 2025!  Their trip was funded by READY Immersive Experience Grants and the Hajek Family Award.  Stay tuned for photos from our trip!

Otterbein hosted 2025 Ohio Branch Meeting; Grove City HS student wins for her research!

Several Bennett Lab students and alumni were able to attend this meeting held at The Point at Otterbein University.  Representing the Bennett Lab, Mady (Grove City High School Junior) won the award for pre-college research presentation excellence!  Way to go, Mady!

Students present their research at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students!

Ramla, Hibo, Alyssa, and Hanan seized the opportunity to present their research as posters at ABRCMS which was held in Pittsburgh in November 2024.  They were awarded READY Immersive Experience Funding and the Hajek Family Award to fund their travels.  Nice job!

Students Present at Regional and National Conferences.

Olivia Brickey, Mason Nolan, Ashni Patel, Feng-Thea Lee and Savanna Glass presented their research at Discover BMB in Seattle March 2023 and were also chosen to present in the Undergraduate Poster Competition.  They each received travel grants from the Otterbein Student Research Fund.  Savanna and Feng-Thea also presented their research at the American Society for Microbiology Ohio Branch Meeting in April.

Four Bennett Lab Seniors will defend an honors or distinction thesis this year!

Gabrielle is working on her distinction thesis over the summer as a Cardinal Science Scholar.  Jonathan, Emma and Duaa each plan to defend a senior honors thesis this spring.  They will also present at the Biology & Earth Science Senior Research Symposium in April.  Keep up the great work!!!

Students conduct research in summer '25!

Emma seized the opportunity to work in our collaborator's lab at Duquesne University this summer for a full-time 10-week immersive experience with their REU program!  Grace was awarded an Otterbein Biology & Earth Science Summer Research Fellowship and Gabrielle and Jonathan are NSF-funded S-STEM Cardinal Science Scholars working in my lab.  Sarah is a Central Michigan University student conducting research in my lab this summer. 

Olentangy High School Student Presents at Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists Spring e-Poster Competition

Olentangy HS student, Arnav Nallari presented his research conducted in the Bennett Lab for the ABRCMS National ePoster Competition this past spring.  A video of his presentation was posted online.  Way to go, Arnav!

Three Bennett Lab Students are among only 20 students in the country to be inducted into the ASBMB National Honor Society!

Olivia Brickey, Mason Nolan and Ashni Patel are among only 20 students in the country to be inducted into the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Honor Society based upon their Academics, Research, and Science Outreach.  Awesome!!!
